SHOPPING

In
a city of many contrasting areas, Glasgow, has developed and worked
hard as a stylish city that offers great variety for the avid shopper
Buchanan Street and Argyll Street are the main shopping
areas of the city. The former contains many renowned names in the world
of fashion such as Red or Dead, Karen Millen, Episode plus many
top quality stores such as Frasers, which houses a lot more than
ladies & gents wear - see for yourself. Burberrys and
Henry Burton are also major names that you will find, the latter
an example of the type of gentlemens outfitters for the
more mature taste.
There is also R. G. Lawrie, one of the local firms specialising
in tartan leisure and dress wear. Just off Buchanan Street is Princes
Square Shopping Centre, which offers a unique shopping experience
on 5 floors, enclosed within a glass atrium and retaining a splendour
of days passed. The centre contains a host of individual shops selling
a wide range of goods from top fashion labels such as Paul Costello,
to bridal wear, Scottish crafts & paintings plus several restaurants
& bars.
For shopping with a difference the Braehead Centre is worth a
visit. Over 100 top retail names offer a superb range and choice and
the centre's riverside location includes a fascinating boardwalk.
Buchanan Street is pedestrianised with a distinct boulevard atmosphere.
At the southern end of Buchanan Street, going towards the River Clyde
is Argyll Street which contains many of the UK's multiple stores
such as Marks & Spencer, plus various shops which are geared
towards the younger visitor who may be sampling Glasgows club
scene.
In addition to these and probably the most noticeable feature of Argyll
Street is the popular St. Enoch Square Shopping Centre, though
set back a little, with ample parking at the back entrance. The centre
is a modern mall with an amazing retail choice offered by 85 different
shops. Definitely a shop 'til you drop facility. There is a food court
and bar/restaurant. Open 7 days a week.
