There is a rich diversity in this unique section of the country that occupies the regions north of the population centres of Glasgow & Edinburgh and which rests against the southern foothillls of the Highlands. In the West are the islands, influenced greatly by the weather they can change from remote and broody even forbidding during Atlantic storms to idyllic, dreamy havens in sunshine. No-one will be unaffected by the stunning scenery and dramatic views and everywhere is peace and tranquility. The Central region has the Trossachs with its beautiful lochs and wooded glens to a rugged mountain backdrop, with Stirling rising impressively from the eastern plains carrying much of Scotland's history. And to the East as the hills smooth out to the rolling countryside of Perthshire and its neighbours, a reserved and genteel atmosphere takes over. From the invigourating sea-tanged air of the west, to the beautiful lochs and rivers in wooded glens and everywhere the history and heritage. |
